NAT-3011 Open Gear Lubricant

Overview
NAT-3011 OGL will extend the life of gears on large ball mills and other highly loaded rotating equipment. Equipment that has been scheduled for replacement can remain in service. Where there is existing damage (pitting, scuffing, plastic deformation), a reduction in noise will be noticed shortly after switching to NAT-3011 OGL. This is due to the cushioning effect that minimises metal-to-metal contact.
NAT-3011 OGL provides sufficient protection to change how the surfaces react to rubbing motion under extreme pressure. Instead of the classic "weld and break" cycle that leads to scuffing, the pressure collapses the high spots — whether from previous damage or machining marks on new gears.
NAT-3011 OGL also reduces pitting. Pitting results from damage under the surface created by high load, especially in rolling contact, as opposed to rubbing. The metal weakens as if being bent back and forth. Weak areas below the surface worsen over time until metal suddenly starts coming away, leaving "potholes." Smoother surfaces increase the load-bearing area, reducing stress and stress fractures.

Applications
Apply NAT-3011 OGL by drip tube or spray system to the open gears of rotating equipment such as ball mills, rod mills, cement kilns, calciners, and dryers. Automatic spray system is preferred.

Other grades (Light and Medium) available upon request. Above data based on new lubricant testing results. The solvent will evaporate if the lubricant is exposed to open air; test results will be better than new lubricant testing.
