NAT-161W Chain & Wire Rope Oil
Non-solvent, extreme pressure, anti-wear oil with soluble moly for wire ropes, chains, and penetrating applications. Rapidly penetrates to the rope core, forms non-drying film, and withstands pressures up to 500,000 psi. Pour point -37°C.
Overview
NAT-161W Chain & Wire Rope Oil is a non-solvent, extreme pressure, anti-wear, rust and corrosion inhibited lubricant specially formulated for use on all types of wire rope applications, chains, and other applications where a penetrating oil is needed.
NAT-161W is blended from a combination of select penetrating base oils and a select extreme pressure, anti-wear, and rust and corrosion additive system. This combination provides the following performance benefits:
- Rapid and quick penetration to the core of the wire rope to reduce fretting corrosion and wear to the inner strands and core.
- Formation of a non-drying, non-tacky film that protects the outer strands from corrosion while lubricating drums and sheaves.
- Exceptional anti-wear and extreme pressure protection to reduce metal-to-metal contact between wires during operation.
- Rust and corrosion protection within the core, adjacent wires, and exterior surfaces.
- Excellent resistance to the corrosive effects of water.
- Rapid displacement of moisture and resistance to the adherence of dirt or dust.
- Prevention of dirt pick-up and lubricant sling-off.
- Extended and prolonged rope life.
NAT-161W also contains a liquid soluble type of moly that plates itself to rubbing metal surfaces. This plating forms a long-lasting solid lubricant film that withstands pressures up to 500,000 psi. The moly reduces friction between wire rope strands as the rope bends and flexes, and also improves anti-wear and extreme pressure characteristics.
